The Recruitment Process

Our aim is to ensure that decisions on recruitment and selection are based solely on objective and job related criteria. We recognise that it is of benefit to our business and its customers to attract, select and retain the most suitable candidates by using fair, open and effective methods.

Everyone involved in the recruitment and selection of employees will ensure that candidates are treated fairly and decisions are made objectively and in line with our policy on Diversity and Equality.

Operational roles
The recruitment process is made up of a number of different stages:
- Each advertisement will include a dedicated telephone number for you to respond to.
- We will conduct a short telephone interview with you and, if we both agree to take the application further, we will send you an application pack.
- All returned application forms are reviewed daily and suitable candidates are invited to an assessment day which is made up of aptitude tests and two interviews: one of which is security screening.
- If you are successful at this stage you will then be invited to medical and provided this is successful a job offer will be made.
- As a Prisoner Custody Officer you will be invited to join an internal training course which will last for 11 weeks (9 weeks are classroom based with two weeks shadowing).

Non-operational roles
- Job advertisements will invite you to send in your CVs.
- Candidates that meet the job specification criteria will be invited to an assessment day
- At this stage, candidates who have completed the assessment process successfully will be invited for interview.
- Depending on the role for which you apply, you may be required to attend a second interview
